According to a 2018 article in Psychologytoday.com “In terms of basic results, they found that 73 percent of women and 98 percent of men reported internet porn use in the last six months, for a total of 85 percent of respondents.” The disturbing facts are the number of children from age 8 years old and older, that have either intentionally or unintentionally viewed internet porn.
This article isn’t necessarily about porn and if it is good or bad, that is a personal decision and topic.
The problem I find with porn is that it provides a negative stereotyping for nudist.
I am sure you are well aware, once a stereotype is in place, it is hard to overcome it or reverse the thinking from your average, everyday person.
Why does porn produce an image that nudist are swingers and exhibitionist?
Try to do a google search on nudist, nudism, nudist couples, nudist women, nudist men, nudist transgender, or anything nudist for that case.
If you have done this, or will do this because you read this amazing kick ass blog, what do you think you will find? Good, wholesome nudist men, women, couples and families enjoying what being a nudist is all about? Welllllllllllll probably not.
In fact, you are more than likely to stumble upon some form of porn or public exhibitionist that are tagged as #nudist, however, they aren’t. Being naked and having sex in public isn’t a nudist. Being naked and masturbating in front of groups of people isn’t being a nudist. Being a model and naked on a beach isn’t your everyday nudist. These are acts of exhibitionist which just happen to be naked while doing it.
While these shouldn’t be construed as nudist, they are. This will in turn leave the perception to the curious nudist that all of us are sexual freaks that sit around by the pool in a big swing fest.
This couldn’t be further from the truth; however, perception wins over reality. I would bet a lifetime of paychecks this thought has turned away thousands of curious nudists which will never give it a shot.
Do erections occur, sure and I will address that in another blog.
Do women suntan with their legs open and you can see vaginas, sure, but not done in a sexual manner (for most).
Are there swingers that go to nudist resorts, events and beaches, of course. However, they are hidden in the mix and 97% don’t show open affection…it is all behind closed doors and you more than likely will never know it even occurred.
So if you are curious about the nudist lifestyle, however, haven’t tried it (or flat denied it because of what I described above) I would encourage you to try it out at least once. Find a nudist organization/group, event, or resort/club/ranch that upholds the AANR or TNS standards and doesn’t allow open sexual contact. If you see something that touts itself as a lifestyle friendly nudist resort, those are more than likely nudist swinger resorts that allow open play and you will shock the shit out yourself if you don’t go there for that.
I hope this helps in providing some clarity between naturism/nudism and pornography and gives you a sense of ease knowing if you want to try it, you will fit right on in!
In your corner,
Ryan
It’s very unfortunate that in the mind of the textile world nudity only exists for ablutions, sex, plus prurient interests like adult movies. They cannot fathom the fact that men and women can be nude together and not be sexual with each other.
I agree with you and most people that I talk to normally go to “how can you be naked around someone and not have sex?”. I don’t fault them, nudism can be kind of weird if you don’t know about it and the only thing that you can relate to is every time you get naked with someone you have sex, then that will be the initial thought…one I feel a lot of people have. I enjoy talking to first time, or new nudist after they go to a resort, club, beach, or function and they realize they had waited so long on a false thought they had and then kick themselves for not doing it sooner!
Thanks for the comment much appreciated as always.
