America’s Got Talent Nightbirde

“You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore to be happy”- Nightbirde

America’s Got Talent Nightbirde performance will have you question your life in just one simple statement.

A while back on America’s Got Talent there was a young lady that took the stage to sing an original song called “it’s OK” and in just two minutes she took the internet by storm.

You see it isn’t that Nightbirde, her real name Jane Marczewski, isn’t just a good singer she is also fighting cancer. Prior to singing Howie Mandel asked her what she does for a living in which she responded that in the last 2 years she hasn’t worked as she has been battling cancer. After the awkward “o sorry to hear” from Howie, Simon Cowell asked her how she is doing now. Nighbirde responded by saying that “last time I check I had some cancer in my lungs and my spine and my liver”.

This response left Simon long faced and speechless and all he could say was “wow”.  Howie then chimed in “so your not okay” to which she responded “well not in every way no, it’s important that everyone knows I am so much more than the bad things that have happen to me”.

Perspective

After she was done with her performance Simon was speaking and took a pause to collect his thoughts when Nighbirde spoke up with a quote that rocked me to my core. She said “you can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore to be happy”. Reread that one more time, “you can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore to be happy”.

Life can be hard and even when it is going well, or great, it takes one breath for that to change.  All too often in life we wait for life to not be hard to be happy. We use it as an excuse to not seek happiness.  If we aren’t waiting on that, we find ourselves subconsciously asking permission from the world to do what we want to do. Self Reflection

Where areas in your life are you waiting for life to not be hard so you can seek happiness?

We wait for the perfect time to act. There is no perfect time in life, and if you are waiting on that, well you are wasting time; precious time you will never get back. One of the lyrics goes

It’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay
If you’re lost, we’re all a little lost and it’s alright

So stop waiting on life to not be hard to go chase your happiness. Get over your self-driven fears of what could go wrong and just try it. Maybe, that one thing will create happiness, joy, self-satisfaction.

I will not lie, I have watched this performance probably 15 times since it aired and 15 times it has gotten me, including now as I construct this blog….but it is ok. Emotions are good and there is nothing wrong with letting them out. So, I will warn you, if you don’t like having people see you tear up, save this and watch it alone.

I would encourage you to take just 4 minutes out of your day to watch her performance on America’s Got Talent.

I am curious what America’s Got Talent Nightbirde clip meant to you and if you had any thoughts or take aways. Comment below and let me know.

Remember, in life it is truly okay to be a little lost sometimes.
